About Tamarack Recovery Centre:
Tamarack Recovery Centre is a 4-star financially transparent charity. It has a good results reporting grade and high overhead spending. The charity has $357k in funding reserves that can cover annual program costs for just under 8 months.
Founded in 1978, Tamarack Recovery Centre (formerly Tamarack Rehab Inc.) is a residential addiction treatment and recovery centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Tamarack aims to help its clients answer the questions: ‘why did I become addicted?’ and ‘how do I recover?’
Tamarack offers an extended program and continuing after-care to make lasting change as its clients rebuild their lives. Tamarack Recovery Centre offers: a 60-day residential addiction treatment program for people who have 28 days sober, an extended 78-day program for people who do not yet have 28 days sobriety, and aftercare support with a focus on lifestyle management for long-term recovery.
In F2021, Tamarack helped 28 clients, 47% of these clients were male and 53% were female. The charity also states that Indigenous individuals comprise 40% of its clientele. Of these 28 clients, 19 graduated from the program (68% graduation rate).
During covid-19, Tamarack counsellors also offered additional no-cost virtual support which included counselling and daily check-ins. Counsellors provided over 30 hours a month of this support in F2021.

Tamarack Recovery Centre reports that since 2013, the centre has an average completion rate of 83%, which exceeds the industry average of 44% for long-term residential addictions treatment. The charity also reports that 82% of previous clients are currently abstinent from drugs and alcohol and 64% had maintained abstinence since treatment.
Additionally, Tamarack reports that 86% of clients report being “very satisfied” with their counsellors and with the safety of the house. 100% of clients would recommend the program to others.
Ci calculates that its cost per client treated is $63k.
