Southland Church is an evangelical, Christian church in Steinbach, Manitoba. The church encourages each of its members to feel Christ’s love and freedom through individual relationships with Jesus. As a community, members work to spread Jesus’ love, develop supportive relationships, and grow in Christ.
The charity offers weekly online services with ministry for kids provided at services. Southland Church runs cell groups for all ages which are small groups of people who support each other and grow in faith together. The Church also coordinates multiple seminars and retreats for its members.
Southland Church has run Bird River Bible Camp for the last 14 summers. Kids in grades 2-12 participate in activities including archery, canoeing, rock-climbing, and water sports along with faith-based programming of prayer and worship. The cost of camp is reduced for members of Southland Church. In 2019, 1,451 campers attended the camp and 56 received leadership training.
The charity’s Church Renewal program works with pastors and leaders to renew and equip the Church for Christ’s mission. It is a free program that provides online mentoring, resources, and tools to participants. As of spring 2021, there are 1,435 pastors in mentoring. There are 43 countries represented in mentoring and 405 of the pastors in mentoring are Canadian.
The Church also provides for its community through acts of service. In the 2021 Thanksgiving food and clothing drive, the church helped 1,253 people and provided food hampers for 1,000+ people. It also gave 150 Bibles away during the drive.
In 2009, Southland Church established Tupendane. This is a separate registered charity working in Uganda. In F2021, Southland Church granted $140,440 to Tupendane.
