OVERVIEW
About Children's Joy Foundation :
Recent News: CRA Charities Directorate revoked Children's Joy Foundation's charity status on May 29, 2021 following an audit. We will keep this report on Children's Joy Foundation live on our website for the record. As Children's Joy Foundation is no longer a Canadian registered charity, this report will not be updated.
DONOR ADVISORY: Charity Intelligence has received a lot of phone calls and emails about this charity. It is fundraising in stores, parking lots, and door to door. Donors are not receiving donation receipts.
This charity report is from 2019. Ci is continuing to monitor this situation, but given the drop in donations received by Children's Joy Foundation following several scam allegations, we will no longer be updating this report.
Students have reported individuals fundraising at York University and University of British Columbia campuses and were concerned the charity was a scam. It is unclear whether these individuals are in fact associated with the charity. Complaints have been made regarding donations being solicited in Yellowknife and there are reports of “aggressive” requests for donations in Alberta. The RCMP states that there were no current police reports about the foundation in 2018.
According to public documents, Children's Joy Foundation (CJF) was founded in 2013. Children's Joy Foundation raises money to help children in the Philippines and Canada who are poor, neglected, or abused. CJF grants money to Children’s Joy Foundation Inc. which is an organization working directly with children in the Philippines. Funds from CJF have been used to construct a building to house orphaned and homeless children.
