OVERVIEW
About Nankind:
Nankind is a four-star charity that is financially transparent. It has an above-average results reporting grade and overhead spending within Ci's reasonable range.
Founded in 2011, Nankind, formerly Nanny Angel Network, supports parents diagnosed with cancer and their families. Nankind states that two in five Canadians are expected to develop cancer during their lifetime. It states that lack of childcare can limit parent' capacity to manage cancer treatment side effects. A lack of childcare can also lead to parents missing medical appointments. To combat this, Nankind volunteers provide one-on-one support with children to relieve pressure from a parent's cancer diagnosis or death.
Nankind runs a variety of in-home programs. Its Nankind Program for Children connects a volunteer with a family in need and provides four hours of childcare a week. The volunteer also helps prepare children for the possibility their parent may die. The charity provided 3,220 hours of free childcare in 2023. Its meal support program provides free prepared meals to families connected with Nankind. The charity provided 10,072 meals in 2023. Nankind also offers grief support services for families dealing with the death of a parent. 56 children received grief support in 2023.
Nankind also runs virtual programs. Its Fun-in-a-Box subprogram delivers a monthly box filled with fun activities for children. Nankind reports it delivered 7,560 boxes in 2023. Its Mom Support Group is led by a nurse navigator and is open to all moms in the Nankind community. The charity provided 74 hours of virtual mom support in 2023.
The charity reports it spent $1.2m on its programs in 2023.

In 2016, a third-party surveyed past Nankind participants about their satisfaction with Nankind's programs. Results from the survey include:
87% of mothers reported that Nankind childcare allowed them to adhere to their appointment schedules.
86% reported that Nankind allowed them to rest while taking care of their children.
More than 90% were very satisfied with the help and support from their Nankind volunteer.
While Ci highlights these key results, they may not be a complete representation of Nankind’s results and impact.
