About Agence Ometz:
Agence Ometz is a Montreal charity providing multi-services to immigrants and families living in poverty. In 2008, Jewish Family Services, Jewish Employment Montreal and Jewish Immigration Aid Services merged to create Agence Ometz. Its mission is to support and strength individuals and families through job, immigration, school and social services. In 2016 it reached more than 13,000 people.
Agence Ometz organizes its funding into 6 issues: Poverty Responses (27% of total program costs), Children and Youth (26%), Employment (23%), Crisis Intervention and Counselling (12%), Immigration (6%), and Mental Health (6%).
In 2016, Agence Ometz screened 2,275 children for speech disorders and 156 children were provided with learning supports. It provides subsidies to allow kids to attend day camps during school holidays while their parents work. Further, Agence Ometz counsels families and couples in many different languages and did outreach in 40 Montreal schools providing psycho-social support.
Agence Ometz helped 1,980 people looking for work with job coaching, career workshops, CV writing and interview skills. It reports that 64% of new clients got a job, went for retraining or returned to school. It helped new immigrants find jobs with training and workshops in computer and French language training. It held social events for over 2,000 newcomers registered with Agence Ometz to establish their new futures in Montreal.
Agence Ometz did not report outcomes in all programs. However, it is in a multi-year partnership with McGill University to develop outcome measurements across programs. Its new 3-year strategic plan seeks greater financial sustainability through maximizing efficiencies in services and operations, along with raising funds and profile within the Montreal community.
Agence Ometz is a medium-sized Canadian charity with $4.4m in donations in F2016. Federation CJA is a major donor to Agence Ometz, providing 55% of total donations received. Administrative costs make up 12% of revenues. Fundraising costs are 9% of donations. Because $619k of donations was provided by BDH Foundation as a related party transfer, this has been excluded from donations in calculation fundraising costs as a percentage of donations. For every $1 donated, 80 cents go to the cause. This falls within Charity Intelligence’s reasonable range.
Agence Ometz has reserve funds of $94k that cover 19% of annual program cost. This charity needs funding as its reserves can only cover two months of program costs.
This charity report is an update that is currently under review by Agence Ometz. Changes and edits may be forthcoming.
