About Agence Ometz:

With roots going back to 1863, Ometz is a Jewish response to employment, immigration, school and social services in Montreal. In 2008, Jewish Family Services, Jewish Employment Montreal and Jewish Immigration Aid Services merged to create Agence Ometz so people in need had a one-stop, multi-service agency. Whether in coping with family breakdown or mental illness, struggling to make ends meet, seeking work or settling in Montreal, Ometz offers a continuum of services for the whole family.

In F2015, Ometz worked with more than 13,000 service requests; 6,805 children and youth, 2,230 job seekers, 1,647 new immigrants, 2,050 families and 1,160 single individuals. Ometz's largest focus (22% of spending) is child and youth, poverty responses (19%) and employment (17%).

Note: Agence Ometz’ auditors Deloitte note a related party relationship with the BDH Community Foundation. The BDH Community Foundation is a separate and independent charity that ensures that all members of the Greater Montreal Jewish community can obtain Jewish burials through buying cemetery plots and paying for burials and cemetery maintenance. BDH Community Foundation donated to Agence Ometz $619k in F2015, $532k in F2014, and $562k in F2013. In reviewing BDH’s audited financial statements it was not disclosed what portion of the funding reserves are Agence Ometz’s endowments. As such, no adjustments or consolidations have been made to the financial review of Agence Ometz.
