About Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation :

The Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation (MSHF) is the fundraising arm of the Markham Stouffville Hospital, which serves a community of over 330,000 people in the Greater Toronto Area. The MSHF's mission is to create, organize and effectively manage a comprehensive fundraising program for the hospital.

In 2008, MSHF launched a $50m Expansion Campaign to help the hospital meet the needs of its growing community. The campaign was successfully completed in 2014 and raised $56m. Between F2010 and F2014 MSHF doubled the size of the facility, tripled the size of the emergency department and increased access to surgical services, maternal health services and oncology services, among others. The key features of the expansion include, an expanded emergency department, an improved and expanded ambulatory clinic, over 100 new inpatient beds, 8 new operating rooms, an expanded diagnostic imaging centre, an enhanced maternal child program and an expanded mental health services.

Financial Review:

In F2014, MSHF's administrative costs were 6% of revenues and fundraising costs were 4% of donations. MSHF had net funding reserves of $15.4m, which cover the annual program costs 7.9 times.

Markham Stouffville Hospital Foundation recently completed a $50M Expansion Campaign, raising $56M to enable our hospital’s first capital redevelopment. Thanks to tremendous community support, we are celebrating the opening of our new building and the complete renewal of our original building. Our new website,, reflects our commitment to donor accountability and includes audited financial statements for the past five years. Also available are a series of annual donor reports and publications including the current edition of our Healthy.Together.Markham.Stouffville TM magazine which contains a special Report to Donors highlighting the impact of donor support throughout the redevelopment project. As our expansion journey ends, a new one begins – one that will outfit our hospital with the most advanced technology and medical equipment.
