Friends of The Moncton Hospital Foundation (FMHF) raises funds to support healthcare and promote wellness at The Moncton Hospital. FMHF focuses on purchasing equipment, updating technology, and renovating spaces for the hospital.
In F2022, FMHF granted $551k to the Moncton Hospital. In F2021, the FMHF funded the purchase of an advanced Digital Slide Scanner. The Moncton Hospital is the first hospital laboratory in New Brunswick to acquire this technology. During F2021 construction on a new outdoor awning for the Dr. Sheldon H. Rubin Oncology Clinic finished thanks to funding from FMHF. FMHF also funded a new ultrasound and probes for the Operating Room. The ultrasound machine displays 3-D images of the kidneys on a high-resolution monitor during laparoscopic or minimally-invasive surgery.
In response to covid-19, in F2021 FMHF opened a covid-19 care fund. Money from this fund was used to purchase a Chest Compression System for the Emergency Department. It also funded the purchase of two phlebotomy chairs. Thanks to funding from the covid-19 care fund, the hospital purchased seven iPads with stands to allow patients to communicate with their families.
In F2021, construction began on a new maternity and newborn clinic. It is set to open in early 2023. A second capital project, a Coronary/Step-Down Unit, is scheduled to start in April 2022. It is set to be completed in March 2025.
