Registered in 1967, Toronto Star Children’s Charities (TSCC) is a public foundation that helps underprivileged children access important recreational activities and household items. Its main charitable programs are the Santa Claus Fund and the Fresh Air Fund. In F2021, it spent $2.2m overall, representing a 57% increase from F2020. 

Toronto Star Children’s Charities spent 65% of total spending on the Santa Claus Fund. This program gives children from low-income families a Christmas gift box that includes warm clothing, a toy, a book, candy, and dental hygiene items. The charity reports that it has given a gift box to 50,000 kids in F2021 and 2,519,581 kids since 1906.

The charity spent 35% of total spending on the Fresh Air Fund. This program provides grants to camp organizations in the Toronto area to subsidize fees for underprivileged and special needs children. TSCC reports that since the program’s inception in 1901, it has helped more than 500,000 children attend summer camp.
