OVERVIEW
About Ronald McDonald House Ottawa:
Ronald McDonald House Ottawa is a 1-star charity with a poor results reporting grade of D+ and Low demonstrated impact. For every dollar donated, 77 cents are available to go towards the cause. Its reserve funds can cover 15 years and 6 months of annual program costs.
Founded in 1993, Ronald McDonald House Ottawa (RMHO), formally known as National Capital Children’s Oncology Care, is a home away from home for sick children and their families. RMHO is one of 16 Ronald McDonald house chapters across Canada helping the families of children diagnosed with serious illness or injury when they must travel for their child’s treatment. In 2022, RMHO spent $543k on its two programs: House and Family Room.
Most of the spending is on the House program. RMHO’s house offers private rooms, a communal kitchen, and a space to relax outside the hospital. In 2022, RMHO had 14 bedrooms that helped 51 families. RMHO is currently expanding its facilities to add 22 new bedrooms. The charity anticipated that this expansion would be done by 2023, however construction is still underway as of May 2024.
RMHO has two Family Rooms. Family Rooms provide a place within the hospital building for family members to do laundry, heat up food, shower, and rest when they are unable to leave the hospital.
