About WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre:
Founded in 1982 in Vancouver, BC, WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre (WAVAW) provides services to women, Two-Spirit, trans and/or non-binary victims of sexualized violence. It also advocates for social and systemic change on sexual violence and justice for survivors. Results and Impact
In F2020, WAVAW intervened against Ontario’s anti-SLAPP legislation (Strategic Lawsuits Against Public Participation) at the Supreme Court of Canada in coalition with Atira Women’s Resource Society and Battered Women’s Support Services. Its submission argued that defamation lawsuits will prevent survivors from reporting violence and will force victims of gender-based violence to relive their trauma.
While Ci highlights these key results, they may not be a complete representation of WAVAW Rape Crisis Centre’s results and impact. This charity is not yet rated on impact (n/r).
