About United Church of Canada:

Founded in 1925, the United Church of Canada (UCC) is a Protestant, Christian faith. UCC oversees 13 regional bodies called Conferences, each of which are independent registered charities. UCC provides administrative services to the Conferences and grants money to fund community projects. Through Mission & Service work, UCC partners with local organizations including congregations, schools, and other charities to meet the needs of vulnerable people.

In Canada, the work of Mission & Service partners includes serving basic needs of the poor and providing chaplaincy in schools, hospitals, and summer camps. UCC is committed to being open and accessible, opposing discrimination on any basis, including gender and gender identity, sexuality, and disability. Through the Healing Fund Project, the church’s Indigenous Ministries service allocated $150,000 in the spring of 2019 to initiatives working to heal the indigenous community from the effects of the residential school system.

International Mission & Service grants support organizations in Africa, the Middle East, Asia, the Caribbean, and Latin America, serving in 20 countries in 2018. Partner organizations work to provide education for children and adults, increase access to sustainable food sources, and build and sustain clean water sources. Advocacy work focuses on the human rights for women and indigenous people, peacebuilding, and protecting communities from damaging environmental effects of mining.
