About Mennonite Central Committee British Columbia:
Mennonite Central Committee British Columbia (MCCBC) is a provincial division of Mennonite Central Committee, a global Anabaptist organization that strives to share God’s love and compassion through relief, development, and peace-building. The charity's focus includes caring for vulnerable people, providing hunger relief and access to education, and promoting justice and preventing violence. MCCBC grants a significant portion of its revenues to Mennonite Central Committee Canada (MCC Canada), which is active in providing relief and services in the developing world. In F2016, MCCBC granted $3.8 million to MCC Canada and spent $1.8 million on its own programs.
Mennonite Central Committee British Columbia has three main programs: Disaster Relief (29% of program costs), Sustainable Community Development (59% of program costs), and Justice and Peace (12% of program costs).
In F2016, MCCBC shipped $296,772 of material aid for its Disaster Relief program. Its Sustainable Community Development program provided 136 single parents with skills training, employment readiness training, and social support to aid in ending child poverty, and 26 homeless people were assisted with finding housing. Its Justice and Peace program saw 83 participants in its ten-week “When Love Hurts” support groups, 50 participants in its three-day “Understanding Abuse in Relations” course, and 19 men participated in its “Men in Relationships” support groups.
MCC Canada runs 108 thrift shops across Canada with 300 management staff. In F2016, MCCBC earned a net profit of $1.9 million from the thrift shops in British Columbia.
Financial Review:

Its administrative costs were 10% of revenues, and its fundraising costs were 10% of donations. For every dollar donated, 80 cents go towards MCCO’s programs, falling within Ci’s reasonable range. MCCO has negative funding reserves of ($6.4m) in F2016 due to having $11.6m in bank debt, resulting in a program cost coverage ratio of -116%.
