Founded in 1964, Kidney Foundation of Canada works to eliminate the burden of kidney disease for patients and their families. The charity's programs focus on funding research, serving patients, increasing public awareness of kidney disease, and advocating for better healthcare. The Foundation reports that one in ten Canadians has kidney disease, and 3,100 people are waiting for a kidney transplant with a median wait time of three years and seven months. The Foundation has three programs: patient services, public education, and research. Its head office is in Montreal, QC.

In F2022, the charity provided $886k in financial assistance for over 4,300 kidney patients. During the same year, over 2,400 people had access to the peer support program, where participants are paired with trained volunteers for emotional support and knowledge about living with kidney disease.
