Founded in 2011, Jewish Legacy Charitable Foundation (JLCF) has a mandate, as stated in its audited financial statements, to distribute funds to registered charities and other qualified donees. The description JLCF provided on its programs in its CRA filings is “to receive and maintain a fund or funds and to pay from time to time to qualified donees.” JLCF granted $3.4m (34% of grants) in F2016, $3.6m (45%) in F2015, and $4.0m (49%) in F2014 to Canadian Friends of Ohr Somayach. John Kaplan is a board director of both JLCF and Canadian Friends of Ohr Somayach. Beth Oloth Charitable Organization was the third largest grant recipient with $1.3m (13% of grants) in F2016 and the second largest grant recipient with $1.1m (13%) in F2015 and $1.1m (14%) in F2014. Beth Oloth Charitable Organization reported revenues of $44.6m in F2016 in its CRA T3010 filings and does not have a website.
