DONOR ADVISORY: Jewish Legacy Charitable Foundation does not have a website. Ci used F2015 and F2016 financial statements received from the CRA. The received F2015 financial statements contained JLCF’s statement of financial position, statement of changes in net assets, and statement of revenues and expenses; the financial statements did not include financial notes or a letter indicating that the statements were audited. The received F2016 financial statements were redacted.

Financial Review:

Jewish Legacy Charitable Foundation is a medium-sized charity with donations of $1.6m in F2016. Note 11 in the charity’s F2016 financial statements may indicate that all donations in F2015 and F2016 came from one organization/donor. The potential donor’s name was redacted. JLCF’s administrative and fundraising costs were 90% of revenues less investment income in F2016. For every dollar donated, 10 cents go the cause, falling outside Ci’s reasonable range for overhead spending. JLCF’s administrative and fundraising cost ratios were significantly higher than F2015 because donations fell by 91%. JLCF was a Major 100 charity in F2015 and F2014, respectively with donations of $18.2m and $27.9m.
