About Future Possibilities for Kids:

Founded in 2001, Future Possibilities for Kids (FPK) works with children in the Greater Toronto Area, hoping to inspire and empower them to be leaders. FPK operates in six neighbourhoods: East Scarborough, East Markham, Richmond Hill, Vaughan, Jane and Finch, and most recently Regent Park. Since 2001, more than 5,000 children and adults have participated in FPK programming.

Kids from the Toronto and York schoolboards may be referred to FPK’s Ready, Set, Goal! program. For six months, participants receive one-on-one support from a trained volunteer, working to develop a community service project called a Goal of Contribution. This Goal of Contribution benefits a child’s community and may include volunteer service such as reading to cats at an animal shelter or picking up garbage in a park. In F2018, FPK reports that 155 Goals of Contribution were completed.

During the summer, Future Possibilities for Kids runs Camp Contribution. The free camp offers activities like sports, arts and crafts, and team building exercises. Each FPK location hosts 25 children per two-week session with three sessions running each summer.

Results and Impact:

Future Possibilities for Kids reports that 88% of kids involved in programming during F2018 improved their social networks.
