About Mission Services of Hamilton:

Mission Services of Hamilton is a 4-star charity. It has an above-average results reporting grade and low funding reserves. The charity is financially transparent and has reasonable overhead costs.

Mission Services of Hamilton (MSH) is a Christian charity founded in 1956. It works to end poverty and provide a safe place for learning and healing in Hamilton, Ontario. To accomplish its mission, MSH seeks to meet safety, shelter, food, and support needs of poor men, women, and youth. Mission Services operates a food bank, a men’s shelter, and a women's and children’s shelter. It also runs an addiction services program and a youth program. Mission Services reports providing help to “more than 20,000 people” each year.

In F2021, MSH’s shelter for women, Willow’s Place, welcomed 295 new women into the shelter. It served 11,985 meals in F2021. The shelter for women and youth, Inasmuch House, answered 271 crisis calls in F2020 and sheltered 92 women and children from violence and abuse. MSH's emergency shelter hosted 483 men in F2021.

MSH’s addiction recovery program treated 771 clients in F2021. MSH runs this program in partnership with legal, health, and social services agencies in Hamilton to provide an alternative to incarceration.

In F2021, MSH had 35 children participate in its youth program, The 196. The 196 is a program designed to empower children in grades 6-8 to pursue postsecondary education. MSH also provides the children with snacks, meals, and homework help.

In F2021, Mission Services of Hamilton's food bank distributed 15,045 grocery packs to communities in need (compared to 14,584 in F2020). It also served 78,059 meals out of its community kitchen. In F2021, Mission Services Food Bank served 1,728 new families.

In F2021, Mission Services of Hamilton's Inasmuch House sheltered 92 women and 95 children from abuse.
