About Just for Kids Foundation:
Founded in 1987 by a small group of concerned parents, Just For Kids Foundation (JFK) fundraises to purchase urgently-needed medical equipment for the Montreal Children’s Hospital (MCH). JFK is a group of dedicated volunteers with two staff members who rally the community on behalf of MCH. Fundraising events include golf tournaments, lemonade stands, bake sales, hockey challenges and gala events, like Dancing with the Stars. JFK has raised over $7m for MCH. Most recently, JFK contributed $1m to outfit a new operating room and a pediatric day hospital. JFK's efforts also purchased a portable ultrasound unit, for $120k, to perform cardiac exams, reducing substantial delays for kids in clinics in northern Quebec and also at MCH. This equipment is estimated to benefit 350-400 patients a year.
Montreal’s new children’s hospital is opening in 2015. JFK has contributed more than $1m to this project over the last 3 years. The 2015 campaign’s goal is to raise $500k for equipment in the Otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) and Urology departments. This equipment will allow better and faster diagnoses for children, and less invasive treatment.
JFK’s administrative costs are 24% of revenues and fundraisings costs are 24% of donations and fundraising events. JFK has funding reserves of $660k that cover its most recent grant to MCH 1.3 times. JFK’s financials are a Notice to Reader which is appropriate for a medium-sized charity.
