About Assiniboine Park Conservancy Inc.:

The Assiniboine Park Conservancy (APC) was established in 2008 with a mandate to develop, govern and manage the overall Park and its amenities. It aims to enhance the Assiniboine Park experience for present and future generations. It has a 50-year lease with the City of Winnipeg, which owns the property and assets of the Assiniboine Park and its entities.

APC is developing a course for the future of the Park and all of its entities that would ensure its long-term viability. In 2009, APC revealed a $200m redevelopment plan for Assiniboine Park & Zoo. It is scheduled to be completed over 10 years in three phases. Assiniboine Park Zoo is spread across 80 acres and has close to 200 different species that account for a total of over 2,000 specimens. APC features more than 8,000 flowers, plants and trees and contains 7 different gardens. Assiniboine Park conducts school programs, workshops, day camps and guided tours.

Financial Review:

In F2012, APC’s funding primarily came from the City of Winnipeg (67% of revenues). Its administrative costs were 9% of revenues. APC has not reported fundraising costs on its audited financial statements. It has funding reserves of ($3.9m) due to $9.0m in notes payable.
