Over the past 12 years, UHF reports that it has funded more than 265 research projects at University of Alberta Hospital. In F2023, the University of Alberta Hospital developed a telemonitoring program in the pulmonary ward. Portable cameras are wheeled into a patient’s room to allow a remote attendant to monitor up to eight patients at once. This development is set to grow across the entire hospital and province.
Patient Care: In F2023, the University of Alberta Hospital received 834,203 outpatient visits. Of that, 72,383 unique patient visits were from outside Edmonton and 11,828 were from outside Alberta. The Hospital reported 6,712 admissions to critical care and performed 363 transplants in F2023.
UHF funded over $8 million to design a new SIM centre at the University of Alberta Hospital. The building will cover over 1,100 square meters. The charity states it will build seven additional simulation rooms and seven conference rooms. The charity reports this will help both patient care and research programs.
