About University of Alberta :

The University of Alberta (U of A) is a public research university located in Edmonton. It was founded in 1908 by Alexander Cameron Rutherford, the first premier of Alberta, and Henry Marshall Tory, its first president. The U of A sits atop the North Saskatchewan River valley, North America's largest stretch of urban parkland. The university offers 200 undergraduate programs and 170 graduate programs. The U of A has been home to 71 Rhodes Scholars, the third most among universities in Canada.

U of A is home to 37,830 students from 143 countries. In the 2015-2016 academic year, 17% of undergraduate students and 38% of graduate students were international students. It has a faculty to student ratio of 1:21. In a survey issued to 2014 graduates, 90% reported being satisfied with their educational experience. Maclean’s University Rankings reports that standout programs at the university are Computing Science, Drama and Nanotechnology.

U of A alumni have collectively founded over 70,000 organizations globally, creating over 1.5 million jobs and generating annual revenues of nearly $350 billion. One-third of these organizations are non-profit or have a cultural, social or environmental mission. In a research study conducted in 2012, it was found that the University of Alberta had an economic impact of $12.3 billion on the provincial economy in F2010, which represented 5% of Alberta’s GDP in the same period.
