Founded in 1967, United Israel Appeal of Canada (UIA) promotes Jewish interests, identity, and philanthropy. UIA’s programs in Israel are focused on education, healthcare, and innovation. It also provides humanitarian aid and funds development projects. The charity runs projects in Canada to reinforce Jewish identity, support Jewish people, and politically advocate for Jewish interests.

United Israel Appeal of Canada owns land in Israel for its overseas projects. Its audited financial statements show a value of $1 for these properties, while they are reported at a value of $134 million on UIA’s F2021 T3010 filing.

UIA runs the Birthright program, which gives young Jewish Canadians a free guided trip to Israel. The goal is to help the international Jewish community feel a connection to Israel, Jewish history, and Jewish culture. UIA also promotes Jewish culture through micro-grants for cultural projects in small Canadian communities. The Alex Dworkin Canadian Jewish Archives collect and preserve Jewish historical records. In F2019, UIA reported that these archives answered 1,000 queries, an increase over previous years.
