Charity Intelligence Canada is a new non-profit organization that researches and analyzes Canada's charities to enable funders to make informed and effective giving decisions that reward charities for their results.
Most private funding for charities is currently based on their emotional stories. Our role is not intended to usurp or replace these stories, but rather to complement them with the numbers and measured results.
We evaluate charities using investment methods with vital modifications to include a charity's defining characteristics. Our research starts with the financial statements and then adds in the value of donated goods and services. Our analysis considers transparency and accountability as a base point, measures efficiency in the prior use of funding, and then goes beyond to quantify effectiveness in meeting their clients' needs.
Charity Intelligence Canada provides three services:
- We recommend to donors charities that have been proven to meet the highest standards in effectiveness.
- We provide donors with tools they can use and apply themselves in analyzing charities.
- We prepare commissioned research reports to aid funders in their decision making.
